Welcome Back for Term 2

We’ve loved welcoming our Foundation students back for Term 2—there’s been a real buzz of excitement as they’ve returned, ready to learn, explore, and dive into new adventures together!

Foundation Community Walk
Foundation students enjoyed a wonderful learning experience during our community walk to the Riverwalk Village playground. Along the way, they explored important road safety skills, such as stopping, looking, listening, and thinking before crossing. Students also engaged in conversations about their local environment, sharing observations about what they could see, hear, and notice in the community. It was a fantastic opportunity to connect learning to the real world while building confidence and awareness.

Principal’s Message Week 3 Term 2 2026

Read Time: ( words)

Welcome back to Term 2! It has been wonderful to see our students return settled, positive, and ready for another exciting term of learning.

Congratulations to all of our students who represented Riverwalk at the District Cross Country in Week 2. It was a fantastic day, with Riverwalk finishing 2nd overall across the Werribee District Schools. We had 6 students place in the top 3 and 5 students finish in the top 10. A special congratulations to Ayla and Mike, who both finished 1st in their age groups — an incredible achievement. Most importantly, our students represented the school with pride and outstanding sportsmanship.

This week, our Senior Choir visited Arcare Aged Care in Werribee to perform for residents during their morning tea. It was wonderful to see the joy our students brought to the residents, and we hope this is the beginning of a strong partnership with the Arcare community.

At the end of Week 4, we will also celebrate Education Support (ES) Staff Day. Our ES staff play such an important role in supporting our students, classrooms, and school community each and every day. We are incredibly grateful for the care, dedication, and support they provide across the school.

Our Year 5/6 students are eagerly preparing for their upcoming camp to Billabong Ranch in Echuca at the end of Week 5. This will be the first time Riverwalk Primary School has attended Billabong Ranch, and we are excited to provide students with this new opportunity and experience.

Enrolments for our 2027 Foundation/Prep intake are now open. Families who live within our school zone or already have a sibling enrolled at Riverwalk Primary School will automatically be accepted. We encourage families to submit enrolments as early as possible to support our planning for future growth.

Families may have seen communication regarding planned industrial action scheduled for Week 4. The Australian Education Union (AEU) has now cancelled this action, and school operations will continue as normal.

Finally, Happy Mother’s Day to all of our wonderful mums, grandmothers, carers, and special people in our students’ lives. We hope you have a very special day on Sunday. Thank you also to our Parents for organising another fantastic Mother’s Day Stall for our students.

Administration Updates Week 3 Term 2 2026

Read Time: ( words)

2026 Parent Payment Arrangements

Parent payments can be made online via Compass through course confirmations, or in person at the school office/reception. If you have any questions or need support with payment arrangements, please contact the office and we’ll be happy to help.

Uniform

School hats are now available for purchase at the school office for $20, and reading satchels are available for $17. All other uniform items can be purchased from Noone Rushfords in Werribee.

Student Late Arrivals

Students who arrive at school after 9:00am must present at administration before going to their Learning Group. This ensures that their attendance is marked accordingly and they receive a Welcome Pass to provide to their learning group Teacher when they arrive at class.

Early Pick Ups

If you need to pick your child up early from school, please let us know in advance by calling the office on 9742 9700 or sending us an email at riverwalk.ps@education.vic.gov.au

This helps us ensure your child is ready to leave when you arrive and minimises disruptions to learning.

To support a calm and focused learning environment, we will be avoiding PA announcements for early pick ups.

Please note:

Children cannot be called for early pick up during break times:

o 11:00am – 11:30am

o 1:30pm – 2:15pm

If you need to collect your child during these times, please contact the office ahead of time so they can be ready and waiting.

Parents who arrive during break times without letting us know in advance will need to wait until the break is over before their child can be collected, as we are unable to locate children out in the yard.

Student Absences

In order to meet legislative requirements, we must ensure that our attendance data, which is provided daily to the Department of Education and Training, is up-to-date and accurate. We ask all families for the same day notification of student absences via compass. Instructions on how to report your child as absent on compass have been attached to this post. If unsure or unable to submit via Compass please email riverwalkps@education.vic.gov.au or call 9742 9700.

All unexplained absences will automatically receive an SMS notification at 9.45am
daily reminding you to report your child’s absence.

Unexplained Student Absences

All student absences must be logged in Compass. If your child does have absences that are unexplained, they can be seen on your Compass Parent Portal. If you are unsure how to process these on your parent portal, please reach out to administration for assistance.

Road Safety Reminder

As we continue to prioritise the safety of our students and families, we would like to remind everyone to remain mindful of traffic and road safety around the school, particularly during drop-off and pick-up times.

Please remember that school zones in Victoria operate at reduced speed limits (typically 40km/h during designated times), and these limits are strictly enforced to protect our children. We ask all families and visitors to drive with caution, be alert for pedestrians, and avoid distractions when travelling through the school precinct.

We also encourage safe parking practices, including avoiding double parking, respecting no-standing zones, and ensuring driveways and crossings are kept clear at all times. Where possible, please consider parking a short distance away and walking to reduce congestion directly outside the school.

Students are reminded to use designated crossings and to always look both ways before crossing roads, even when using supervised areas.

By working together, we can ensure our school environment remains safe and welcoming for everyone. Thank you for your ongoing cooperation and support.
